Press Release
Thursday July 13, 2006
Clear Channel Radio and the Caddo Sheriff’s office have teamed up to raise $100,000 for Sheriff’s Safety Town.
Safety Town, a Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office project, is designed to protect children by teaching safety skills and allowing them to practice those skills in a safe environment by creating a child-size town with miniature streets, buildings, crosswalks and working traffic lights to offer the perfect setting for bicycle, pedestrian and vehicular safety instruction.
Clear Channel Radio’s “Drive to 100K for Safety Town” will involve fundraisers sponsored by Kiss Country 93.7, 99X, K945, KVKI, KEEL and KWKH.
Auction items from Kiss Country include memorabilia signed by artists such as Kenny Chesney, Toby Keith, Brooks & Dunn and Martina McBride. Beginning July 12, these items will be auctioned off online and bidders will be able to make offers on the items via email or phone.
KVKI will also auction off autographed items from Fleetwood Mac and Jack Scalia soon after the July auction on Kiss Country.
A carwash hosted by all six Clear Channel stations and the infamous 99X Calendar Girls will help get the cash flowing for Safety Town as well. On July 22 from 2-6 p.m., 99X will take donations in exchange for a washed car or an autograph from a calendar girl. Don’t worry ladies; you won’t be left out—Caddo Parish
-more-
Sheriff Deputies will be onsite to get your vehicle squeaky clean as well.
Want to be able to hear anything you want (well almost anything) on The Hit Music Channel K945? Donate to Safety Town through the “Friday Free-for-all” and you can request anything from Avril Lavigne to Lawrence Welk. Every Friday in July, K945 listeners can find A.G. and Shawn from the K Morning Krewe broadcasting on-location and you can pay them to play any song of your choice.
Donating through Clear Channel Radio is not the only way to help the cause—if you can make a contribution, drop off your check or money order made out to “Safety Town” at any First Louisiana Bank location.
If you would like more information on the “Drive to 100K for Safety Town” call the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s office or contact Gary McCoy, Operations Manager for Clear Channel Radio, at (318) 688-1130.
